Sameer Ghising, widely recognized by his stage name VTEN, is a Nepalese rapper and actor. He has established himself as a significant figure in Nepalese hip-hop, gaining widespread acclaim for his impactful lyrics and distinctive style. VTEN rose to prominence in 2016 with the release of his breakthrough song, “Churot”, and has since delivered several hits, including “Simsime Pani,” “Paara,” “Hami Yestai Ta Honi Bro,” “Yatra,” “Haalkhabar,” and “Kaatha.”

Early Life

Born in Chandranigahpur, Rautahat, Sameer Ghising grew up in a humble environment. The region is also home to celebrated poet Jenan Nepal, known for his poetic contributions. During his early years, Ghising worked as a carpenter alongside his father, mastering the craft of building cupboards, doors, and windows.

In his teenage years, Ghising relocated to Kathmandu to pursue his high school education. While in Kathmandu, he started painting Thankas under his uncle’s guidance. It was during this time that his passion for rap music began to grow. However, balancing his Thanka-painting job with his evolving rap career proved challenging.

Ghising spent much of his pre-fame life living with friends and immersing himself in songwriting. Despite completing his high school education (+2), he chose not to pursue further studies, focusing entirely on his music career.

Career

VTEN’s entry into the rap industry was marked by his ability to resonate with audiences through his realistic and relatable lyrics. Collaborating with renowned artists such as Girish Khatiwada, he impressed listeners with his talent and authenticity.

His music often reflects the struggles and aspirations of Nepalese youth, blending self-expression with powerful storytelling. VTEN made history as the first Nepali solo artist to achieve over 1 million subscribers on YouTube. His catalog includes hits such as “Himmat,” “Cypher,” “Manche Khattam,” and many more.

VTEN’s music has reached global audiences through his tours in various countries, including South Korea, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, UAE, Bhutan, India, Hong Kong, Qatar, Thailand, and the United States.
